Bankers and builders speak different languages: one values governance and control, the other leverage and speed. The stance is to speak both.
They're not wrong about each other. The banker has watched ungoverned systems produce expensive, invisible damage; the builder has watched governance calcify into a process that ships nothing. Both are describing real failures they've personally paid for.
The rare position is bilingual — and it's rare because it's usually earned the slow way, by doing both jobs. You can tell a builder why the control exists rather than quoting the policy at them, and tell a banker how the shortcut is actually safer rather than asking them to trust you.
That's the whole stance behind "bank to builder". Not choosing a side: refusing to translate between two languages you happen to speak — because most projects fail exactly at the seam where nobody does.
